Back in July, word surfaced that Apple might be planning to release a white version of its iPod touch for the first time later this year. Several photos of white front plates for the iPod touch have surfaced since that time, although there have been suggestions that these plates were either knockoff parts or for a white version of the current-generation model that was never released.
Japanese site Mac Otakara has now spotted a white headphone jack claimed to be for the fifth-generation iPod touch being offered by Chinese repair site Luna Commerce (via AppleInsider). The jack sports the same slanted profile as found in the current iPod touch, necessary to fit the device's tapered design.
Headphone jack parts for the iPhone 5 or 4S appeared in both black and white back in mid-August, with those parts carrying the flat profile needed for the current iPhone 4 design. A tapered iPhone 5 as has been rumored would presumably require a slanted headphone jack, leading to speculation that the flat parts are intended for the cheaper iPhone 4-based model informally known as the iPhone 4S.

I love the white! I just wish it didn't get so dirty looking after normal use.
With the way things leak lately (the past few years really) I would think Apple would just give up and do product releases like everyone else. But the secrecy is part of Apple's allure, so I guess not.
Either way, I guess when you think about it, we actually enjoy the leaking and secrecy. It's fun. :)
You do realize its glass right? What kind of normal use are you doing that it gets so dirty?
I had the white VZW iPhone 4. From normal use, the glass either gets opaque, or the white paint gets faded looking. On the black phone, you don't see this because it's black. It's why I returned it.
glass gets opaque huh? I found the solution to opaque glass while studying abroad in a russian monestary.
It seems you can "clean" glass to remove any debris, or smudge (local term) to bring clarity and shine to it. Its far fetched, but I tried it once on a backwindow of a 97 Toyota Corrolla, and it worked.
Seriously? A headphone jack? These "rumors" are getting out of hand.
Welcome to MacRumors. This is what they do. Rumors about Apple products.
This actually gives some interesting information. It shows that -something- tapered is going to be released at the upcoming event, be it an iPhone or an iPod Touch.
We didn't have any parts proof of this, we only had the case designs to go on.
